Ask Gink to open an app or a folder in Finder, open Terminal in a project, skip a song, change the volume, take a screenshot, find a file or tell you how much battery you have. Common requests work instantly, even without the AI.
Say “Hey Gink”
You can now wake Gink without touching anything. Say “Hey Gink”, and the edges of the window light up while Gink listens. Ask your question, hear the answer, and carry on with a follow-up without saying the wake word again.
Listening for the wake word happens entirely on your computer, so no audio leaves it until you say “Hey Gink”. It's off until you switch it on in Settings, under Voice.
A morning briefing that remembers what you were doing
Alongside the weather, your plans and a headline, the briefing now picks up where you left off: tasks you're partway through, with the next step, yesterday's conversations, and the files you were editing. The task closest to done gets a nudge to finish it first.
Gink now sounds like a person
Gink's voices are now natural and expressive, with eleven personalities, including Nigerian, Kenyan, British and French voices. In voice conversations, Gink speaks like a person too: short sentences, no lists read aloud, and it starts answering after the first sentence instead of making you wait for the whole reply.
